To-Dos

  • Learn to sew. Learn to make nice hems for altering pants. Learn to alter shirts and dresses to fit better. Try to construct shirts and skirts.

  • Lose weight gained during the year through exercise and better eating habits. Get back to using FitDay to track intake, exercise, and weight.

  • Organize and rebalance our retirement funds. Continute to make use of Yodlee. Continue to read up on personal finance blogs. Find index funds to invest in.
I like having attainable and focused goals. :)

So the "lose weight" item became more specifically "lose the 4 or so pounds gained over the Christmas break and another 4-5 lbs I gained between March and December and beat Nana to the goal" which goes hand in hand with Seppo & Klay's 20-pound weight loss challenge.

Heh.

This is good because it is much easier to get to the gym and eat better when both Seppo and I are focused on cooking more at home and eating better when we eat out.

Horray for synchronized goals.

I've been quite happy with my Vanguard 500 Index Fund (VFINX). Very low expense ratio. I pay no fees at all because I have enough invested (over $10,000).

You see, this just isn't fair.

Seppo goes home, and you both are all gung ho about the weight loss thing.

I go home, and Nana says, "Hey, try these cassis chocolates! They're great!"

:(

h: Thanks for the recommendation! I've heard of it from Uyen and also from a couple of personal finance blogs, so it's definitely one of the top ones I'm considering. :) It's good to get one more vote of confidence for it.

hapacheese: Nana is on my payroll.

hapacheese: Have you seen what seppo has been eating? "...deep fried breaded chicken pieces coated in a sweet, spicy, and garlicky sauce..." You have this thing in the bag. :)

LOL! :D You have a point. But we both made sure to put enough aside for leftovers. Seppo only had 3 pieces of about 8 and I left half my dish for lunch today, when ordinarily, I would have scarfed the whole thing down.

Baby steps! :)

Let me gratuitously add, I am so happy about successfully hemming my pants that I can't shut up about it.

I've told *everyone*. Hee hee.

Well, we have been on a cooking streak, and I've cut my food intake by about 30% (or more). No more sodas, juices, etc. No more bad snacks.

In other news: I'M SO FRIGGIN' HUNGRY!!!1!

Ehem.

But, let me know when you've got some skills on the machine. I've got plenty of stuff for you to work on :P

I'm going to double Nana's pay to make you gain weight.

And I won't fix your clothes either!

Per my recent discovery that I can eat 31 lbs of celery a day for 2000 calories, I eat nothing but celery.

And bourbon. A guy's gotta live!
